About the event
Ever since 2002, Subotina the Old-Fashioned Way has been held at the old town centre, as part of the Feast of the Nativity of Mary.
In September 2014, the first Sunday after the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, Subotina the Old-Fashioned Way has introduced new content with the aim of revitalising the old town centre and the fair in the most authentic way possible. After midday, fascinating sounds, flavours, and scents, speech, and music, the breath and spirit of old times, of bygone days from which only vague memories and scraps of old books and photos remain, can be experienced in an exceptional ambience.
At Subotina the Old-Fashioned Way you will find a market with homemade products, old crafts, a blacksmith who mints Subotina coins, notary, tailor, Mariška Shop, old town bakery, smithy, old town pharmacy, one-stop shop, games for children, coffee shop, and a bookstore… you will meet jugglers, street musicians, fiddlers, and accordion players… photographers, ice cream sellers, streetlamp-lighters, garbage men, and drummers…
It’s an opportunity to travel over one hundred years into the past.
